Guide to Winter Glowing Skin - Part II

18 DECEMBER, 2020

How to apply serum in Winter:

Dropping temperatures and lower humidity levels can leave our complexion thirsty and dry. So it’s even more important to introduce some deeply hydrating serums into our skincare routine.

An extremely integral step in our routines, think of serums as a concentrated helping of whatever your skin really needs, designed to target specific complexion concerns. Applied after cleansing and before your moisturiser, the active ingredients in your serum absorb into your skin providing a hefty yet lightweight dose of hydration and nourishment.

We suggest utilising a combination of a water-based and an oil-based serum to ensure water and oil are replenished and completely locked into your skin.

As well as adding a major hydration boost, water serums create pathways for ingredients to permeate better.

For very dry skin:

Start by applying our Alpha-Glow Flash Facial. We might be biased, but in our opinion this product fully embodies the term 'smart skincare'. This feather light, water-based gel serum is boosted with a plethora of skin-saving powerhouses such as Vitamin E, Aloe and Rose Stem Cells to boost hydration, soothe inflammation, increase elasticity and promote collagen production. With regular usage mimicking the effects of a facial, it’s become one of our most cult products.

Follow with our Intensive Elixir Treatment Serum to deeply nourish, moisturise and soothe. It blends rare, precious Rose Absolute to minimize redness and tighten the skin, it also utilises Calendula and Rose extracts to calm and strengthen and stimulate skin vitality. Loaded with Macadamia Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Sunflower Oil packed with essential fatty acids to mimic skin’s natural lipids, they lock in moisture within the skin and facilitate your skin cells regeneration process. Heady, full bodied Sandalwood and Frankincense promote healing, boost skin plumpness by preventing tissue degenerate, rebalance serum levels and minimise the depth of wrinkles whilst antioxidant powerhouse Vitamin E deeply moisturises and smooths lines.

Normal to slightly dry/sensitive skin:

We recommend beginning with our Alpha-Glow Flash Facial once again but following with our slightly lighter but just as nourishing vitamin A serum.

Rich in warming, nourishing ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin's layer and revive dull, dry skin, our VA Repair & Reglow TCM-Warming Concentrate is the ultimate wonder skin elixir.

When it comes to nourishing and healing, Vitamin A (present in the Cherry Kernel oil we use) is an absolute powerhouse. As well as boosting circulation and fortifying, this wonder serum refines pores, improves dryness, stimulates collagen production and reduces appearance of fine lines. This smooth, silky oil is non-comedogenic and specially formulated to target skin concerns stemming from environmental irritants and hormonal fluctuations; the α-eleostearic acid in cherries have been proven to combat free-radicals and assist the recovery of sun-damaged skin.

Oily/Combination skin:

For skin prone to breakouts and oiliness, people often make the mistake of reaching for drying formulas. Start with our Active Marine Collagen Serum. Infused with Marine Algae to boost collagen and plump from within and a major helping of anti-oxidants to brighten and refine, this powerful serum hydrates and boosts radiance too. Powered by Co Q10 to repair and stimulate skin cell regeneration and omega-rich Algae-Complex to promote collagen production and strengthen the skin’s hydro-lipidic barrier. It’s also enriched with Raspberry, Green Tea and zingy Citrus actives to reduce dullness, protect and rejuvenate skin.

Follow with our VF Detox & Balance TCM-Cooling Concentrate. Adopting TCM principles, this cooling and rebalancing serum hydrates thirsty complexions and soothes at the same time. The presence of clarifying, astringent and detoxifying ingredients promise to address sebum production, calm inflammation and aid healing and regeneration.

Stay tuned for our final part of winter skin saviours where we’ll be discussing the correct way to moisturise.
